Linn 52, New Bloomfield 29

NEW BLOOMFIELD — The Linn Lady Wildcats won their fourth straight game Thursday, defeating the New Bloomfield Lady Wildcats 52-29 in Show-me Conference action.

Linn jumped out to a 17-6 lead after one quarter and continued to lead 24-11 at halftime.

Aushara Hostetler paced Linn with 16 points, while Kiana Hostetler added 10 points.

Avery Nichols had nine points for New Bloomfield.

Both teams continue conference play tonight, as Linn (14-7, 2-1 Show-me) hosts South Callaway and New Bloomfield (6-15, 1-3 Show-me) plays at Eugene.

Eldon 72, Richland 40

ELDON — The Eldon Lady Mustangs picked up their third consecutive win Thursday with a 72-40 victory against the Richland Lady Bears.

Eldon led 12-6 after one quarter, then outscored Richland 24-9 in the second quarter to go into halftime with a 36-15 advantage. The Lady Mustangs extended their lead to 59-30 by the end of the third quarter.

Haley Henderson scored 24 points for Eldon (12-8), which returns to Tri-county Conference play Monday at Boonville.

Boys Basketball Eugene 60, California 52

CALIFORNIA — The Eugene Eagles held off a late rally by the California Pintos to win 60-52 in Thursday’s non-conference matchup.

Eugene led 14-12 after one quarter, then used a 13-0 run in the second quarter to pull ahead to a 32-21 halftime lead.

The Eagles continued to lead 45-31 at the end of three quarters. The Pintos trailed by as many as 18 points with five minutes to play, then used a 10-0 run to make the score 54-46 with 1:36 to play.

California got its deficit down to four with :29.1 left, but Ethan Wunderlich made 4-of-4 free throws in the closing seconds to give Eugene the victory.

Wunderlich scored a gamehigh 22 points for the Eagles. Isaac Busch added 10 points and Justice Allen and Brayden Eads each had nine points.

Ayden Bryant and Brooks Volkart led a balanced scoring attack for the Pintos with 12 points each. Gavin Porter was next with 10 points.

Eugene (16-5), which is receiving votes in Class 2, hosts New Bloomfield tonight in a Show-me Conference matchup.

California (8-12) hosts Boonville in Tri-county Conference play Tuesday.

Helias JV wins title

The Helias Crusaders took first place in the Helias JV Tournament with Thursday’s 49-31 win against Hickman in the title game at Rackers Fieldhouse.

Two Crusaders finished the game with double-doubles. Alex Wood had a team-high 17 points to go with 10 rebounds, while Cam Hillen had 12 points and a team-best 12 rebounds. Alex Schonhardt also reached double figures with 12 points.

Helias (9-5) plays Monday at De Smet.

Blair Oaks JV beats Jays

The Blair Oaks Falcons came away with a 58-51 win Thursday night against the Jefferson City Jays in the Helias JV Tournament at Rackers Fieldhouse.

Brenden Rackers led the Falcons with 17 points, while Hudson Meyer finished with 14 points. Evan Mccullough also reached double figures with 11 points.

The Jays were led by Brody Johns with 22 points.

Blair Oaks (15-4) hosts Miller Career tonight, while Jefferson City (10-8) hosts Hickman on Tuesday.
