Victoria Chapter #14, Order of the Eastern Star Victoria Chapter #14 held their meeting July 26 with Jennifer Lewis, worthy matron, and Jim Thomas, worthy patron protem, presiding. They welcomed Nancy K. Lane, general grand chapter committee chairman to the International Temple and Past Grand Matron and Grand Representatives Jim Thomas, Mississippi; Sue Davis, Wyoming; and Robin Norfleet, Tennessee. Protems for the evening were Jim Thomas, worthy patron; Robin Norfleet, chaplin; Don Trabue, associate patron; and Pam Wheeler, sentinel.

The chapter voted to go dark in August, so there will not be a regular meeting. Instead, there will be a PPP meeting — Picnic, Party and Practice — on Aug. 23. The chapter will furnish hot dogs and hamburgers, including buns. Members are to bring a dish (dessert, salad or other). The meal is at 6 p.m. with practice for initiation after. There will be a special meeting at 7 p.m. Aug. 25 for the purpose of initiation. Carry-in is at 6 p.m.

Worthy Matron Jennifer Lewis gave a report on the 9th District Official Reception and School of Instruction held July 9 at Masonic Complex in Columbia, Missouri. Those honored at the Reception were DDGM Sandy Hall and the three Grand Representatives mentioned prior. Each chapter in the district donated a basket with items to auction. Altogether, the baskets raised more than $160 to donate to Duo Dogs Service dogs. There were 78 in attendance. The School of Instruction followed the reception after lunch.

The MSMSGRC summer meeting is Aug. 20 at Courtyard by Marriott, 3301 Lemone Industrial Blvd. in Columbia. State club officers will meet at 9:30 a.m. with the state club meeting and luncheon at 11:30 a.m. The deadline for reservations has been extended to Aug. 12.

Associate Grand Matron Cary McQueen and Associate Grand Patron Rick Royce will hold their 2023 Grand Officers Reveal at 1 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Adrian Optimist Club in Adrian, Missouri.

Fun Day will be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Masonic Complex in Columbia. There will be a cake walk, silent auction and other games. Bring the family. A $20 ticket includes games and food.
