KRUEGER

HOLZER

Erma Christine Holzer, 87, of Wardsville, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Summit Villa in Holts Summit.

She was born January 5, 1935, in Henley, Missouri, the daughter of Clarence and Freda (Frank) Lootens.

She was united in marriage on August 22, 1953, at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Mary’s Home to Jerome J. Holzer, who preceded her in death on May 27, 2004.

Erma worked for over 23 years for Scholastic, Inc. as a postage supervisor. She also worked part time for the Missouri Department of Conservation as a special permit clerk.

She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Wardsville, the quilters group at St. Stanislaus, and a member of the Over 50 Club.

EGLER

Frederick Paul Egler, age 89, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022, at Jefferson City Manor.

Fred married Marlene Sloan in 1952 and shortly after purchased two freight tractors which he leased to Roadway Express and later sold to the company while continuing employment. He was awarded a million-mile safe driver award and retired from the company in 1991.

He had a never-ending love for his children, eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Fred never met a stranger and loved to travel, ride his Harley, drive his 1940 Packard, dance, fish, play blackjack and darts, and was a loyal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team.

Survivors include: his son, Don Egler, and daughters, Linda Laucks and Paula Keyes.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Freeman; father, Peter Egler; mother, Ella Egler; two brothers, Peter and Bernard Egler; and two sisters, Shirley Nichols and Carol Nickelson.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 13, 1 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 3738 Morganford Rd., St. Louis, Mo. Immediately following a gathering will be held at Pepper’s Bar and Grill, 5452 Gravois Ave., St. Louis, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Alexander John (A. J.) Krueger, age 92, passed away Monday, July 22, 2022, at Tidewell Hospice House, 5957 Rand Blvd. Sarasota, Fla. A.J. was born January 11, 1930, in Jefferson City, Missouri, an only child of Julius and Katherine Krueger.

A.J. is survived by: his loving wife of 71 years, Helen Carol Baker Krueger; and a beloved stepsister, Jerene Hackney, Kansas City, Mo.

A.J. was educated in the Jefferson City Public Schools and graduated from the School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. He worked for Hawthorn Bank (formerly The Exchange National Bank) in Jefferson City for 35 years, retiring as a Vice President.

A.J. was a Korean War veteran and a 65 year Roscoe Enloe Post No. 5, Jefferson City American Legion member.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 19, 2022 at the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, 7950 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34231. Interment will be at 11:30 a.m. at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd. 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.

VOLKART

Virginia Volkart, 67, of Jefferson City, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2022, at her home surrounded by family.

She was born April 10, 1955, a daughter of the late Daniel and Betty Ann “Phillips” Randall.

She was united in marriage on December 8, 2000, in Jefferson City to Robert “Bob” Volkart, who survives at their home.

Ginny is survived by two daughters: Alys Newport (Adam), Lindsy Keaton-Harlan (Joshua); grandchildren: Masey Amberson, Kinsey Amberson, Luke Newport, Abigail Keaton, Evan Harlan; two brothers: Lawrence Randall (Denise), William Randall (Vickie); two sisters: Leslie Long (Glen), Susan Andree (Rick); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be private for the family.

Jason Richard Newkirk, 36, of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. He was the son of Michael Newkirk and Carolyn Weber.

John Rice, age 77, of Vienna, died Sunday, July 31, 2022, at his residence.

John is survived by his wife, Margaret; his children, Thomas, Tracy, Rebecca, Roberta, Rita, John, Vincent, Lynda, Serena, and Jennifer; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

WOBBE

Donna Vermalle Wobbe, 77, of New Bloomfield, Mo., passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, Mo.

Donna was born on January 19, 1945, in Belleville, Ill., the daughter of Leonard and Fern (Monroe) Andrews, who preceded her in death.

On October 2, 1964, in Belleville, Ill., she was united in marriage to Marvin Wobbe.

Over the years, she worked as a manager at local restaurants and also as a CNA at various nursing homes. Her passion and love was to serve others. She enjoyed quilting in her spare time.

Survivors include: her husband of 57 years, Marvin Wobbe; two brothers and one sister.

She was preceded in death by two sons, David Wobbe and Marvin Wobbe, and one grandson.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Debo Funeral Home in Holts Summit, Mo. Memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating.
