College Softball Dickerson pitches shutout

HENDERSON, Tenn. — Columbia College senior pitcher Lexi Dickerson threw a two-hitter Monday, leading the Cougars to a 3-0 victory against Madonna (Mich.) in the Opening Round of the NAIA softball national championships.

Dickerson (Eugene High School) threw just 74 pitches in seven innings, striking out three and walking one. She improved her season record to 12-3 and lowered her season ERA to 1.33.

Junior left fielder Abby Pringer (Helias High School) went 1-for-2 with a double to left-center field in the third inning.

In 38 games this season, including 25 starts, Pringer is batting .318 (21-for-66) with 18 RBI, 17 runs scored and seven extra-base hits. She is third on the team with eight stolen bases.

Columbia College (34-10), the No. 3 seed in the Henderson Bracket of the Opening Round, will play No. 4 Friends University (31-19) in a winner’s bracket game at 11 a.m. today.

College Track Roberson wins Big 12 title

LUBBOCK, Texas — TCU sophomore Devin Roberson became a conference champion Sunday during the Big 12 outdoors track and field championships at Texas Tech.

Roberson (Jefferson City High School) took first place in the men’s discus with a throw of 188 feet, 2 inches. He won the event by eight inches.

On Saturday, Roberson came in ninth place in the shot put with a throw of 58-0.25, a new personal-best.

Roberson’s personal-best of 190-11 is tied for 15th place among qualifying for the NCAA Division I West Regional, which is scheduled for May 26-28 in Fayetteville, Ark. The final list of qualifiers will be announced later this week.
