Helias falls to Barstow
Lose 5-0 in Class 2 boys tennis quarters
KANSAS CITY — The Helias Crusaders’ record season ended Tuesday in its Class 2 Sectional 3 match against the Barstow Knights.
Barstow swept Helias 5-0, ending the Crusaders’ season with a 17-3 record for the most wins in program history.
Ethan Foucheaux and Andrew Dowden dropped their doubles match 1-8, as did Jacob Zerr and Matthew Schepers. Helias’ final doubles combo of Caleb Mueller and Jonah Lanigan fell 0-8.
Foucheaux’s singles undefeated mark fell when he lost 1-6, 0-6, while Dowden lost 0-6, 0-6 to finish the overall match.
Zehr played through his two sets, falling 0-6, 0-6, as did Schepers, who lost 0-6, 3-6.
Mueller played a 2-6 set, while Matthew Liebsch played a 1-6 set.
Helias still has individuals who will play in the state tournament Thursday and Friday at Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield.
