Blair Oaks’ Bryan atop Class 3 standings

SEDALIA — Blair Oaks junior Dylan Bryan is tied for first place among 85 golfers following Monday’s first round of the Class 3 boys golf state championships at Sedalia Country Club.

Bryan is tied with Nevada’s Owen Swearingen and Bishop LeBlond’s Samuel Schoeberl after shooting an evenpar 70, shattering his personal-best on 18 holes.

Bryan birdied three of the four par-5s in his round, adding birdies on the par-4 first hole and the par-3 seventh hole. He also carded eight pars and five bogeys.

The Falcons are in fourth place in the team standings with a 325. Father Tolton is atop the standings with a 295, one stroke better than Bishop LeBlond, and Dexter is third with a 319.

Tolton has four golfers in the top 15 individual standings.

Chase Distler had the second-best score for Blair Oaks in Round 1, posting an 11-over 81. Distler, making his state tournament debut, had two birdies and

four pars in his round.

JJ Quehl is one five golfers tied for 43rd place with an 86, finishing with seven pars and six bogeys in his round.

Todd Bisges rounded out the Falcons’ team score with an 88, putting him in a tie for 51st place at the halfway point. Bisges shot six pars and six bogeys in his round.

The state tournament concludes with today’s second round, which starts at 8 a.m. The top 15 individuals receive allstate honors and the top four teams earn state trophies.

The Southern Boone Eagles are in eighth place as a team after Day 1 with a score of 356 in the Class 3 state championships.

Adam Wiseman led the Eagles with a 12-over 82, putting him in a tie for 32nd place. Wiseman finished his opening round with nine pars and seven bogeys.

Jacob Anderson was next with an 84, which is tied for 38th. He had seven pars and nine bogeys.

Rounding out Southern Boone’s team score was Noah Wilde with a 94 and Trenton Hargis with a 96.

Wilde is tied for 72nd place, finishing with three pars and nine bogeys in his round, while Hargis, who is tied for 75th, had four pars and four bogeys.

Eldon’s Teagen Hull is tied for 25th place halfway through the Class 3 state championships, shooting a 10-over 80 in his first round.

Hull birdied a pair of par 3s and also posted 10 pars and three bogeys in his round. He is four strokes off the pace for the all-state cut line.

The Mustangs’ other state qualifier, Luke Barchenski, is tied for 32nd place with a 12-over 82. Barchenski finished with eight pars and five bogeys in his first round.
