Aces and Spaces Duplicate Bridge Club

On Jan. 10, 11 pairs participated. Winners were: Jim McGinnis and Matt Zeitz with 1.10 Master Points (MP), Greg and Renee Barnes with 0.77 MP, Tony Wening and John Gibson with 0.55 MP, Mary Vandegriffe and Audrey Halvorson with 0.39 MP, and Julie Hall and Vicki Myers with 0.25 MP.

The Aces and Spaces Duplicate Bridge Club meets at 6:30 p.m. every Monday in the West Point Senior Center. Players must be vaccinated and masks are currently required. The Aces and Spaces Bridge Club welcomes new members and offers Bridge lessons for people who want to learn to play Bridge or become better Bridge players. Victoria Chapter No. 14, Order of the Eastern Star

Jennifer Lewis, worthy matron, and Cory Alspach, worthy patron, greeted members and guests at the Dec. 14 meeting of Victoria Chapter No. 14. Distinguished member Nancy Lane, general grand chapter committee member of the International Temple and past grand matron, was introduced and welcomed. Lane reported the proceeds from the meals Victoria members served to the new district deputies on their day of instruction after grand chapter were donated to the Jefferson

City Special Education program and Masonic Home Outreach. She also gave a report on the 2021 grand chapter session at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in November. Grand chapter 2022 is scheduled Nov. 14-17, 2022, in Springfield at University Plaza.

The members of Victoria held a get-together Jan. 11 for the purpose of practice for initiation. A practice will also be held Feb. 8, the second Tuesday of the month.

The reception of Associate Grand Conductress Karen George will be Jan. 22 in Warrensburg at the North Christian Church. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. Dress will be daywear. George will reveal her colors, flowers and main emblem of her year as worthy grand matron, 2025, at the reception.

Beverly Steelman, junior past matron, and Jim Thomas, junior past patron, presented Sister Becky Thomas with a gift honoring her for her many years of service to the chapter as the treasurer. Paula Alspach received the attendance prize from the worthy matron and patron. Installation of officers for 2022 was Nov. 9. Those installed are: Worthy Matron Jennifer Lewis, Worthy Patron Cory Alspach, Associate Matron Sue Davis, Associate Patron Ron Phillips, Secretary Nancy K. Lane, Treasurer Don Trabue, Conductress Elsie Trabue, Associate Conductress Linda DeWeese, Chaplin Carrie Phillips, Marshall Gloria Gehlert, Organist Jane Hurtt, Adah Orvella Wright, Esther Betty Thiedke, Electa Robin Norfleet, Warder Deena Greer and Sentinel Paula Alspach.

There will be a lunch to honor Sandy Hall, the 2022 District deputy grand matron, Centralia Chapter No. 195, on Jan. 20 at Bandana’s Bar-B-Q in Columbia.

The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 25. A carry-in supper starts at 6 p.m.
