Reverend Clinton Luther Taylor Sr., 88, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022, at the Baptist Home in Chillicothe.

He was born July 12, 1933, in Bakersfield, the son of Luther Marion and Mynerva M. (Beard) Taylor.

He was married on May 23, 1953, to his beloved Lucy Marie Atkins, who preceded him in death Jan. 7, 1993.

Clinton was a 1951 graduate of Bakersfield High School. After graduation, he attended William Jewell College. Unwavering in his faith, Clinton dedicated his life to serving others and was ordained as a Southern Baptist Minister. He was a devoted Christian and member of the Southern Baptist Convention for many years. He preached the gospel in numerous small town and rural churches throughout Missouri and was a very faithful husband, father, grandfather and minister to his family as well as the churches he pastored.

Clinton was a jokester and known for his dad jokes. He was a caring man and enjoyed taking care of others. Clinton enjoyed being outdoors, going fishing and camping when his children were young. He stayed busy and worked hard to supplement his income. He was committed to doing whatever was needed to support his family. Clinton liked working puzzles, playing his harmonica, and catching up with relatives at family reunions. He was a very generous, giving man and served others in whatever capacity was needed.

Survivors include: four children, Jimmy (Deborah), Vigil (Azira), Joe (Arlene), and Sally Hunt; one sister, Mary Ruth Kirkland; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Clinton was preceded in death by his parents; his four wives, Lucy, Hilda, Willow and Janet; one son, Clinton Jr.; three siblings, Velma, Louise and Dennis; and one granddaughter, Charity.

Visitation will be held at Cornerstone Baptist Church 11 a.m.noon Monday, Jan. 17, 2022. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at noon with the Reverend Brian Credille officiating. A livestream of the service will be available at noon. This can be viewed by going to his memorial page on the funeral home website.

Graveside services and internment will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022, at Baptist Hill Cemetery near Bakersfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Clinton Taylor Memorial Fund.
