HARTLEY

Reverend Paul Marion Hartley, 66, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022, at Boone Hospital in Columbia, fortified by the anointing of the Holy Catholic Church.

Father Paul M. Hartley was born Aug. 13, 1955, in Colorado Springs, the son of the late Herman Hartley and the late Martha Bechtold Hartley.

Father Hartley attended SS. Peter and Paul Catholic School and graduated from Laura Speed Elliott High School, both in Boonville. He attended Rockhurst University in Kansas City from 1973-77 and St. John’s Seminary, St. Cloud, Minnesota from 1977-81.

He was ordained on May 30, 1981, to the Holy Priesthood by the Most Reverend Michael F. McAuliffe, Bishop of Jefferson City, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

His pastoral assignments were: Associate Pastor, Immaculate Conception Parish, of Jefferson City; Pastor, Church of the Risen Savior Parish, of Rhineland; Pastor, St. Andrew Parish, of Tipton; Pastor, St. Mary Parish, of Shelbina and St. Patrick Parish, of Clarence; Pastor, Immaculate Conception Parish, of Owensville, and St. Alexander Parish, of Belle; Pastor, St. George Parish, of Linn; Pastor, Immaculate Conception Parish, of Macon, and Mission of Sacred Heart, of Bevier; Administrator of Shrine of St. Patrick, St. Patrick, St. Michael Parish, of Kahoka, and the Mission of St. Martha, of Wayland; Pastor, Sacred Heart Church, of Vandalia, and Mission of St. John, of Laddonia; Pastor, St. Mary Parish, of Glasgow, and St. Joseph Parish, of Slater; Pastor, Immaculate Conception Parish, of Montgomery City, and St. Patrick Parish Jonesburg; and Pastor, Church of the Resurrection Parish, of Wellsville.

Father Hartley celebrated his 25th Anniversary of Holy Priesthood in Aug, 13, 2006, at the Shrine of St. Patrick Parish, of St. Patrick. He celebrated his 40th Priestly Anniversary on May 30, 2021, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, of Montgomery City.

He is survived by his sisters, Jayne (John) Evatte and Monica Hartley; brother, Mark Hartley; seven nieces and nephews; plus his brother priests.

A prayer service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Boonville with a Rosary to be prayed at 4 p.m. and evening prayers at 5:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral, with a Rosary to be prayed at 9:45 a.m. Burial will follow in the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to SS. Peter and Paul Catholic School, SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, or the Little Sisters of the Poor, Kansas City, Missouri.
