PALMER

Marlene M. Palmer, 83, of Jefferson City, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2021, at Oak Tree Villas with her family at her side.

She was born on Dec. 13, 1937, in Searcy, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Dr. Marlin and Ruth (Moore) Garrison.

Marlene was united in marriage on June 12, 1960, in Searcy, Arkansas to Dr. Russell G. Palmer.

She was a 1951 graduate of Searcy High School. Marlene went on to graduate from the University of Arkansas and the Southern College of Optometry where she met her future husband, Russell.

She enjoyed playing bridge with her girlfriends, watching old movies and cheering for the Arkansas Razorbacks and St. Louis Cardinals. Marlene was fond of her view of the Missouri River and spent countless hours watching the boats meander down the water way. Most of all she loved her daughter, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Marlene is survived by her daughter, Gaiya Henley (Thomas); grandchildren, Russell Henley (Heather), Marcus Henley (Emily), Erika Kirchner (Zach) and Emily Braun (Darin); greatgrandchildren, Weston, Maddox, Graham and Adeline Henley, Hailey, Hannah, Heidi and Henry Henley, Kinsley, Kora and Wyatt Kirchner, and Palmer Grace Braun.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Dr. Russell Gay Palmer, and great-grandchild, Baby Braun.

Friends will be received 4-6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors.

Private graveside service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 22, 2021, at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice Compassus of Central Missouri or St. Martin’s Catholic School.
