Oak Hills Golf Center

The Oak Hills Golf Center is open daily, weather and course conditions permitting.

The course opens at 7 a.m. through September.

Join the open ladies league Wednesday mornings through Sept. 29. Formats and pairings change weekly. To register, contact the clubhouse at 634-6532 or arrive by 8:30 a.m. on Wednesdays.

A two-person scramble open league is offered Thursday evenings through Sept. 30. Pre-registration opens the Wednesday prior to each league night. Contact the clubhouse at 634-6532 to reserve your spot. This league is limited to 50 teams and often reaches maximum capacity. Participants should arrive 15-30 minutes prior to the 5:30 p.m. shotgun start.

The Linc

The Linc hours are as follows: 5 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 5 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday; 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.

Daily adult drop-in fee is $5, youth and senior adult dropin fee is $3, senior adult couple drop-in fee is $5, and a family drop-in fee is $15. Adult membership fee is $25 per month, youth and senior adult membership is $20 per month, senior couple is $29 per month, and a family membership is $31 per month.

Group exercise classes at The Linc are offered on the following days and times:

On Monday, Freestyle 45 is held from 5:15-6 a.m.; Twalkers from 8:30-9:30 a.m.; H.I.I.T. It from 12:15-12:45 p.m.; Yoga or Pilates from 4:30-5:15 p.m.; and Muscle Max from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, Crossfire is held from 5:15-6:15 a.m.; Chair Yoga from 9-9:45 a.m.; and Power Cycle from 12:15-12:45 p.m.

On Wednesday, 50/50 Power Cycle and Core or H.I.I.T. It from 5:15-6 a.m.; Twalkers from 8:309:30 a.m.; H.I.I.T. It from 12:1512:45 p.m.; and Yoga or Pilates from 4:30-5:15 p.m.

On Thursday, Crossfire is held from 5:15-6:15 a.m.; Simple Circuit from 9-9:45 a.m.; H.I.I.T. It from 12:15-12:45 p.m.; and Power Cycle from 4:30-5:15 p.m.

On Friday, Freestyle 45 is held from 5:15-6 a.m.; and Yoga from 12:15-12:45 p.m.

An Aqua Motion class is held Monday through Friday from 7:45-8:45 a.m. at Ellis-Porter Riverside Pool.

All group exercise classes are included in the membership fee.

Washington Park Ice Arena

The Washington Park Ice Arena will reopen Sunday.

A public session will be from 1-4 p.m. Sunday. Adult admission is $5.50, youth admission is $4.50 and skate rental is $3.50.

Freestyle sessions are held on the following days and times: Sunday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and Tuesday from 5:45-7:45 p.m. Admission to a two-hour session is $12.

A stick and puck session for all ages will be held today from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Sunday, a youth drop-in hockey session will be held from 10:45-12:45 p.m. Sunday and an adult drop-in hockey session will be held from 7:459:45 p.m. Sunday. Admission to a stick and puck session or a drop-in hockey session is $12. Goalies are free.

Golden Hours

Golden Hours is new program for senior adults and is a social time that includes educational sessions, sharing experiences, and reflecting on topics.

Golden Hours meet the first Tuesday of each month at The Linc from 10-11:30 a.m. Golden Hours is free to The Linc members. Non-members can pay a $40 annual fee to participate.

Dive into the great decades by participating in activities and crafts with themes of times gone by.

Pools

The Memorial Park Family Aquatic Center and Ellis-Porter Riverside Pool are open for the season.

Pool hours are typically 10 a.m.-7 p.m., unless swim lessons or special events are being held. Adult admission is $6.50 and youth admission is $5.50. After 5 p.m., $1 is taken off the admission price.

Community bike rides

Community bike rides are perfect for cyclists of all skill levels to enjoy a variety of trails, greenways, and bike-friendly roads in and around Jefferson City.

Each ride is led by two certified Lead Cycling Instructors, David Bange and Jim Coleman. Monthly rides are scheduled through November and routes vary month to month.

Community bike rides are free and the next bike ride will be Sunday, Aug. 8, beginning at 6 p.m.

Stars Under the Stars

The Stars Under the Stars outdoor summer movie series will be held at the new Ellis-Porter Riverside Amphitheater. Movies start at dusk, approximately 8:45 p.m.

On Friday, Aug. 6, “Charlotte’s Web” will be shown, and on Friday, Aug. 13, “Sister Act” will be the featured movie.

Stars Under the Stars are free events sponsored by Healthy Blue. Concessions will be available for purchase.

Catch Me If You Can

Registration is now open for Catch Me If You Can, a run with obstacles along the way.

Catch Me If You Can will be held Saturday, Aug. 28, in the Ellis-Porter Riverside Park area.

Youth ages 6-17 will make their way through trails and obstacles, including water and mud.

Early registration will be accepted until Aug. 13, and open registration will be held Aug. 14-27. Early registration is $30 and open registration is $40.

The first flight will leave at 9:20 a.m. Flights will be released every 20 minutes, with the last flight starting at 10:40 a.m. For more information, go to www.jcparks. com/event/catch-me-if-you-can.

Fall slow pitch softball

Registration for the fall adult slow pitch softball leagues will be accepted through Aug. 4.

Registration fee for the single game league is $225 with a $75 forfeit fee deposit. Registration fee for the doubleheader league is $375 with a $75 forfeit fee deposit.

Games begin the week of Aug. 23.

Fall adult volleyball

Registration for fall adult volleyball leagues will be accepted through Aug. 4.

Leagues offered include sand 4-on-4, sand 6-on-6, and indoor 6-on-6. Registration fee for sand 4-on-4 leagues is $84 with a $30 forfeit fee deposit. Registration fee for sand 6-on-6 leagues is $120 with a $40 forfeit fee deposit. Registration fee for indoor leagues is $200 with a $60 forfeit fee deposit.

Games begin in late August.

Fall competitive baseball

Registration for fall competitive baseball leagues will be held through Friday.

Registration fee is $1,100 per team. Leagues offered are for 8-and-under through 14-and-under, and teams are formed by coaches. Coaches can visit teamsideline.com/jeffersoncity to register a team.

Table tennis

A table tennis session will be held from 5-8 p.m. each Monday at the North Jefferson City Park Board Facility, located at 810 Sandstone St.

Players ages 10 and above are invited, with all skill levels welcome.

Play is $3 per night, with the first session free. Players can also purchase punch cards for $30.

Capital City Horseshoe Club

The Capital City Horseshoe Club offer leagues and tournaments throughout the year.

Participants must have a 2021 National Horseshoe Pitchers Association and Missouri Horseshoe Pitchers Association membership to participate in leagues and tournaments sponsored by the Capital City Horseshoe Club.

Upcoming tournaments include the Hot August Open on Aug. 7, the 17th annual Big Money Open on Sept. 25-26 and the Club Picnic and Championship Tournament on Oct. 24.

Fall league begins Thursday, Sept. 16, starting at 6:30 p.m., and will continue for six weeks.

Judo and jujitsu

The Jefferson City Judo Club will be offering judo and jujitsu classes in the upcoming months.

Judo teaches self-defense using throws, sweeps, holds, joint locks and chokes. Judo is held from 6-7:30 p.m. each Monday and Thursday for anyone ages 6 and older.

Jujitsu teaches ground fighting techniques for self-defense and is open to anyone ages 13 and older. Jujitsu is held from 6-7:30 p.m. each Wednesday.

Team building

Using fundamentals from the JC Parks Lead, Explore and Grow program, staff members will guide each group to improved communication and teamwork.

Ropes course group rentals

The Binder Park ropes course is ideal for work outings, team building or birthday parties.

Participants are challenged to lead group members through obstacles, to explore course challenges with problem solving and communication, and grow as an individual as well as a team.

Leaders and instructors will assist participants at every step in order to ensure enjoyment, comfort and safety.

The Binder Park ropes course is open June 1 through Nov. 12. Reservations must be made at least 10 days in advance. Fees vary on the number of participants and the type of activity.

YMCA soccer registration is taking place through Saturday. This program is for kids entering pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.

’Cuda Camp

’Cuda Camp is for kids ages 6 and up and is an opportunity for a swimmer who wants to get ready to join the Barracudas Swim Team.

Kids will meet current swim team members and coaches, learn the strokes, become a stronger and safer swimmer and find out what being a ’Cuda is all about.

Go Fish Aqua Camp

Go Fish Aqua Camp is for kids ages 6-12.

Each day at camp will feature swimming instruction, water games, cool pool crafts and water safety.

Barre and More is a 45-minute class uses the ballet barre for stretching and conditioning.

Body Pump is the original Les Mills barbell class, will sculpt, tone and strengthen your entire body. Focusing on low weight loads and high repetition movements, you’ll burn fat, gain strength and quickly produce lean body muscle conditioning. Body Pump is one of the world’s fastest ways to get in shape as it challenges all of your major muscle groups while you squat, press, lift and curl.

Core and More provides variety of exercises and tools will be used to strengthen your core. Core muscles are everything on the front, side and back of your torso, not including your extremities (arms, legs and head). Core strength comes especially from your ab muscles and erector spinae muscles, which are responsible for helping you stand erect.

Cross Box will help you put a little punch in your day. This class keeps you coming back, using a variety of equipment including versa bars, ropes and weights, combined with traditional boxing elements. It’s never the same workout twice. Gloves are not required but are available for purchase at the front desk if desired.
