HAGNER

Harold Francis Hagner, 80, of Jefferson City, passed away on July 25, 2021, at the University Hospital in Columbia.

He was born on February 14, 1941, in Jefferson City, a son of the late Herman and Christine (Hertzing) Hagner.

Harold was united in marriage on May 18, 1973, in Fulton to L'wana Koestner, who survives at the home.

Harold was a 1959 graduate of Helias High School where he excelled in football; being named MVP two different years. He was employed by Tony's Drive-In for over 20 years. He started as a car hop, then a cook, and eventually worked his way up to a manager position. He transitioned with the company to their three different locations around town. He then worked for his Uncle Al, building houses for Alfred Hagner Construction, before starting his own construction company: Harold Hagner Construction. He proudly ran his business for over 30 years. Harold was a very active individual. He coached softball (The Ball Bangers), was a member of the Eagles, enjoyed fishing, gambling and the St. Louis Cardinals, and was famous for his BBQ chicken. He was always with his boys and loved to watch them arm wrestle. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years: L'wana; daughters: Deborah Hagner of Columbia and Cheryl Breedlove (Bob) of Columbia; son: Kirk Smith of Jefferson City; brother: Robert Hagner; sister: Patricia Cordry; grandchildren: Rusty Hart, Haley Sue Hagner, Justin Rybolt, Ashley and Candace Breedlove; and great-grandchildren: Noah Hart, Marshall and Monroe Hagner and Tyler and Connor Rybolt.

He was preceded in death by two sons: Kyle Dudley and Ronald Smith; and brother: James Hagner.

Friends will be received from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 p.m.
