Modern Litho acquires KC printing company

A Jefferson City-based magazine company is expanding its reach with the acquisition of a North Kansas City company.

Modern Litho’s acquisition of Watkins Lithographic, which is set to go through Aug. 1, will increase the company’s production capacity and enhance its suite of services, according to the announcement.

Modern Litho is a full-service magazine, catalog and commercial printer in Jefferson City with national reach.

“After the successful acquisition of James Printing in 2018, we knew we wanted to expand our Kansas City footprint,” said Darrell Moore, Modern Litho president.

“Watkins Lithographic is a great fit in terms of their customer base, employee group, equipment and facility. We will continue to build on the Watkins Litho tradition of serving their clients well and will look to make investments that will enhance that experience,” Moore said.

The acquisition is expected to expand the company’s services in Kansas City to include digital and offset print, mailing, warehousing and fulfillment, and wide format services.
